Hyperbolic A.K.A. Grandpa is Parin's paternal grandfather and the Mayor of Tiese Town. Parin is sent to live with him while her parents are out on their lastest adventure. He doesn't know who she is or why she is there at first, but is able to gather himself and his memory is normal the rest of the game. Hyperbolic grew up in Tiese and was an exceptional miner in his younger years. It is revealed that at some time as a young man, Hyperbolic vanished in the mines and was missing for some time. His parents had given up hope of ever finding him then, suddenly, he reappeared.
While around town, Hyperbolic, will try to get Parin to trade the medals she has collected either for headgear or for pockles. He has three different headgear items that he will trade for Gold medals. He will offer 1000 pockels for a silver medal and 100 pockels for a bronze medal.
